Upcycled storage basket with handles, woven by May Zun Chit and her family near Pakkoku, Magway Region. This basket has been designed for shoe storage.
Pieces of pallet banding, usually stapled across crates for shipping, are woven to create lasting baskets.
Weaving these baskets is the only source of livelihood for May and her family, some of whom are living with physical disabilities or are very elderly.
I came across the basket from YGN by chance on Instagram and I am so pleased I did! The item is absolutely lovely and ideal when out and about shopping! Such a lovely touch that it’s handmade too. The customer service was brilliant too! Thank you!
